Over 100 bird species either inhabit or visit the Park and are recognized as having their range or breeding ground within the Park grounds.
These are broadly categorised as birds of prey – those who eat other animals, water birds who rely on fresh water, and the remaining bush birds, who spend their time in the Park's woodlands.
While most are found here year-round, some are itinerant species who migrate both short (in the case of some water birds who rely on water being present) and long distances (such as the rainbow bee-eater and peregrine falcon).
