Of the 38 reptiles recorded in the Park, eight are snakes, which are split up into front-fanged snakes, which includes the dugite and tiger snake, and blind snakes who live their lives out under the ground.
Snakes are also protected species that have a very important role to play in the ecosystem: as predators, they help to keep prey populations, such as rodents, in check.
It is important to remember that most native snake species in WA are venomous, so if you do come across them ‘in the wild,’ give them lots of space and they will leave you alone too (and while it should go without saying, don’t try to handle them).
