Whiteman Park offers a wonderful range of education programs exploring both transport heritage and the natural environment.

Covering some of the most interesting and significant facets of Whiteman Park, our education programs have been designed to allow students to learn as they play, beyond the classroom.

Developed to meet the current Western Australian Curriculum, these programs provide opportunities for students to learn, develop and grow in all areas of the Curriculum.

Environmental
education programs

Set amongst some of Perth’s most significant remnant banksia woodlands that envelop important wetland areas, Whiteman Park offers your students a unique and accessible location to immerse themselves in the natural environment.

Each program has been designed specifically for the intended age group and focuses on different aspects of the environment – including conservation, groundwater, our native fauna, various ecosystems and more – through creative, interactive and engaging activities. All are aligned to Science or Mathematic content from the Western Australian Curriculum and embedded with a sustainability thread throughout.

Importantly, our programs provide students with a true environmental experience as they connect with nature amongst Whiteman Park’s natural bushland in either the Children's Forest or Woodland Reserve.

Transport Heritage
education programs

Let us take you on a journey back in time as you explore how transport has changed over the years. Whiteman Park’s own Revolutions Transport Museum, along with the Tractor and Motor Museums, will provide you with a wealth of knowledge about the features of transport and the important role it plays in our lives.

Our programs are matched to both History (HASS) and English content descriptions from the Western Australian Curriculum for each year level and utilise role-play, dress-ups and objects from both past and present to help your students understand continuity and change.

Of course, with so many historical modes of transport operating in the Park, you can level up your excursion with a real-life step back into history! Book your class into a scenic trip on a vintage train or heritage electric tram around Whiteman Park’s parklands and bushland for the perfect way to conclude your transport-themed excursion.
